Couriers of Good Change Seniors’ Easter
20 kwietnia 2025
Can you put empathy in a box? As it turns out, yes – and deliver it straight to the door of a senior citizen! This year’s edition of the 'Parcel for Seniors’ was like a real Easter cake: sweet, homemade and made with love. We have just completed the eleventh edition of the campaign, in which a total of 1008 seniors received pre-Easter parcels. But it is not just about material support. The initiative already has the power of an intergenerational solidarity network, born from an idea of young people.
And it all started with… a few extraordinary teenagers
A few years ago, young people from the Kisielany foster home came up with an idea as part of the 'Junior Project Manager – It’s Me’ workshop series. They were asked to create their own community project – and they created something that continues to this day. Posters, collections, meetings with senior citizens who had not heard the words 'we remember’ for a long time. And so was born an intergenerational chain of kindness that now spans seven provinces, 41 social centres, NGOs and institutions, and grows every year.
This year, 59 young people from foster care facilities took part in the campaign, not only helping but also organising, coordinating and acting as professional project managers of the heart. We were supported by 20 companies who contributed products, financial donations, the time of their employees and… heart.
What’s in the heart is in the parcel
The young people were able to count on the almost limitless support and dedication of 96 volunteers, who spent a total of 355 hours packing and delivering parcels with an estimated market value of around PLN 386,345 (that’s a lot of sour soup and vegetable salads!). Inside: food, cleaning products, cosmetics – all the essentials. But most importantly, what was inside? Attention. Time. Heart. Because these packages are not just gifts. They are signs: „You are important to us. You are not alone.”
Because Easter is not just about Easter eggs and a cupcake. It’s also a moment when a young person or a volunteer sits down with a senior, shares a cup of tea, listens to a story from half a century ago and, if only for a moment, forms a connection. It was a time when smiles became currency. And the participants truly became couriers of goodness – without postcodes, but with a map of human need. For the young people from the foster care facilities proof that they can make a difference, that they can act. For seniors – a sign that they are not alone. For volunteers and companies – an opportunity for real social engagement.
We would like to thank everyone who was a part of this beautiful spring story: volunteers, PSOs, young people from foster care facilities, donors and partners: Accor Investments, Animex, Bielenda, Colgate, DeSilva, Develey, DSV, Jacobs, Dr Irena Eris, Henkel, Kupiec, Lenovo, Linklaters, L’Oréal Warsaw Plant, Lotte Wedel, McCormick, Nationale Nederlanden, POL-HUN, Okruszek and Yope. Thank you for once again helping this campaign to grow, develop and reach so many people.
This year it was not the Easter Bunny, but us who together created an Easter miracle!
