On 10 October, Lenovo Poland\u2019s Warsaw office hosted a special FDI EduJourney<\/strong> for young people from residential care facilities in Greater Poland and Podlasie. This time, the Foundation\u2019s beneficiaries took part in workshops on artificial intelligence and future skills, led by Lenovo employees as part of skills-based volunteering.<\/p>\n

Breakfast with a View of the Future<\/h1>\n

Sometimes learning begins not with a book, but with a conversation around the table. On 10 October at Lenovo Poland\u2019s headquarters, young people from two residential care facilities\u2014one from Greater Poland and one from Podlasie\u2014began the day with a shared breakfast overlooking Warsaw.<\/p>\n

There were croissants, challah, and plenty of laughter at a table bringing together young people from foster care, their carers, the Foundation for Good Initiatives team, and Lenovo volunteers. That moment mattered. Because before the AI workshops began, relationships did\u2014getting to know one another, talking, and letting curiosity build bridges between people.<\/p>\n

From Conversation to Action<\/h1>\n

After a warm-up to break the ice, it was time for the heart of the EduJourney<\/strong>\u2014the AI workshops. Participants trained concentration, attentiveness, and logical thinking, and then\u2014with support from Lenovo volunteers\u2014used AI-powered tools to create visualisations and songs. In groups, the children learned how to write prompts, how to work with AI tools, and how to understand their capabilities and limitations. They tested different AI features, developing logical thinking, collaboration, and self-confidence along the way. There was no shortage of laughter, surprise, and small discoveries\u2014that AI can not only write but also inspire and, above all, that technology can be a creative instrument rather than just a curiosity. The volunteers explained, supported, and\u2014as they themselves admitted\u2014learned alongside the young participants. It was experiential learning at its best.<\/p>\n

Emotions that Stay<\/h1>\n

At the end of the day, the best projects were selected and recognised, but every child received a small gift. There were also certificates for volunteers, words of thanks, group photos, and a shared feeling that each participant\u2014regardless of age\u2014was taking something valuable away. The company benefited too, through increased engagement and loyalty and a stronger reputation as an employer that acts authentically and with heart.<\/p>\n

This EduJourney<\/strong> sent the children home with new skills and greater self-belief, and left the volunteers with the sense that they had done something important\u2014for others, but also for themselves. Our thanks to Lenovo Poland for your openness, warmth, and wonderful energy. Thanks to you, our beneficiaries took another step towards independence\u2014with courage, curiosity, and new capabilities.<\/p>\n
